Description

This standard provides guidance for the assessment of the pest risk of wood and describes phytosanitary measures that may be used to reduce the risk of introduction and spread of quarantine pests associated with the international movement of wood, in particular those that infest trees. This standard covers only raw wood commodities and material resulting from the mechanical processing of wood: (1) round wood and sawn wood (with or without bark); and (2) materials resulting from the mechanical processing of wood such as wood chips, sawdust, wood wool and wood residue (all with or without bark). This standard covers wood of gymnosperms and angiosperms (i.e. dicotyledons and some monocotyledons, such as palms), but not bamboo and rattan.
