Brief Biography
Maria Chiara Rosace is a plant health scientist with expertise in pest introduction research, risk assessment and surveillance. Within the IPPC Secretariat’s Implementation and Facilitation Unit, she supports the Pest Outbreak Alert and Response System (POARS) Development Agenda Item, contributing to evidence compilation, data validation and analysis. Before joining the IPPC Secretariat, Chiara held several roles at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), where she contributed to plant health surveillance, commodity risk assessment and priority pest assessments. She was also a Research Fellow at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Italy), working on plant pest introductions, and conducted research on grapevine diseases and soil health. Chiara holds a PhD in Agro-Food Systems and speaks Italian, English and Spanish.
