Brief Biography
Vladimir is a creative and communications practitioner with over seven years of experience across the United Nations system, including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Bank Group. He works to make complex scientific topics more understandable and actionable. Trained in political science and later digital marketing, Vladimir has worked across NGOs, government, academia, museums and refugee centres - spaces that have shaped his belief that how knowledge is shared is as important as the knowledge itself. This interdisciplinary background continues to influence his approach to communication. In 2018, he was recognised by the City of Belgrade Museums for his outstanding contributions to culture and heritage. His interest in One Health, and planetary health, was reinforced through applied work at moments of crisis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he advised local governments on public communication campaigns for vaccination uptake, with a particular focus on reaching younger and rural communities. These experiences strengthened his conviction that many of today’s challenges persist not only because of technical gaps, but because of gaps in understanding and imagination. Vladimir is a Fellow of the Planetary Health Alliance of the Johns Hopkins University's Bloomberg School of Public Health. In this role, he is focused on strengthening planetary health literacy and developing creative approaches that help people question silos and act within their own contexts. He regularly contributes to public discussions on communication and misinformation, and has spoken at international forums within UN and European Union (EU) spaces. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. At the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat, Vladimir strengthens engagement between IPPC and its beneficiaries, ensuring that implementation and capacity development tools and programmes are accessible and applied by countries.
