Summary: Presentation by the members of the International Grain Trade Coalition (IGTC). The IGTC has 22 trade organizations representing more than 8000 members involved in the international grain movement operating in more than 80 countries. IGTC members provided an overview of global grain supply /demand trends, the nature of international grain contracts and phytosanitary issues within the global grain handling and transportation system. The concluded with a summary of the commercial implications of different approaches available to governments to achieve improved harmonization in managing pest risks associated with the international movement of grain. They proposed creation of guidelines rather than ISPM standard on Global Grain Movement. Conclusion: Let’s rely on science.
