Venezuela notified the IPPC of the detection of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 in three of its states

On 25 January 2023, the national plant protection organization (NPPO) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela notified the IPPC Secretariat of the detection of the banana fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense Tropical Race 4 (Foc TR4) in the states of Aragua, Carabobo and Cojedes.
The Venezuelan NPPO declared a phytosanitary emergency in the national territory because of the Foc TR4 presence. It indicated the following pest status in the country as “Present: not widely distributed and under official control” (ISPM 8 – 2021).
