The IPPC Secretariat will take part in a virtual panel discussion to commemorate this year’s World Food Safety Day on 7 June 2023. During the session, Sarah Brunel, Implementation and Facilitation Unit Lead at the IPPC Secretariat, will introduce the phytosanitary component of a new project titled “Strengthening food control and phytosanitary capacities and governance.” Through the project, the IPPC Secretariat is working with national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) to implement Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluations (PCEs) in nine African Union countries to identify and fix gaps in monitoring, planning and responding to plant health emergencies.
