IPPC launches 2025 Call for Topics: Standards and Implementation

Posted on Fri, 09 May 2025, 12:00

The IPPC Secretariat has launched the 2025 Call for Topics: Standards and Implementation, seeking topics for inclusion in the IPPC work programme and addressing gaps in the IPPC Strategic Framework 2020-2030.

Based on decisions of the Nineteenth Session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM-19) in March, the 2025 Call for Topics will remain open year-round as part of a two-year trial.

Contracting parties (CPs) and Regional Plant Protection Organizations (RPPOs) are invited to submit proposals on:

  • new topics for International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs);
  • new components to existing ISPMs, such as supplements, annexes, appendices, or glossary terms;
  • revisions or amendments to adopted ISPMs, supplements, annexes, appendices, or glossary terms;
  • pests requiring development of new diagnostic protocols;
  • specific commodity standards under ISPM 46;
  • new implementation resources such as guides, e-learning courses, training kits, videos);
  • revisions to existing implementation resources; and
  • topics for conducting surveys and studies on key phytosanitary-related issues, under the IPPC observatory.

The IPPC Secretariat encourages bilateral discussions between CPs and RPPOs, especially for developing globally relevant topics.

Proposals for Phytosanitary Treatments (such as annexes to ISPM 28: Phytosanitary treatments for regulated pests) are made separately.
