IPPC Celebrates Adriana Gonçalves Moreira’s Inclusion in Forbes Agro 2024 List

Rome, 20 December 2024. The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) proudly announces that Adriana Gonçalves Moreira has been named in the 2024 Forbes List: 50 Women Taking Agriculture from Brazil to the World. Released on International Day of Rural Women, this annual list recognizes Brazilian women making an impact in agriculture and bioenergy production while working abroad.

Adriana, who has spent 12 years at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy, serves as Deputy Lead of the IPPC Standards Setting Unit. Her vital work supports the protection of global plant resources and facilitates safe international trade. This recognition reflects her expertise in cultural intelligence, adaptability, and collaborative leadership, qualities highlighted by Forbes as critical for thriving in international operations.

Adriana's expertise, drawn from a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Viçosa and a PhD in Plant Pathology from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (Esalq/USP). Before joining FAO, Adriana honed her skills as a plant quarantine leader at Syngenta. Her achievements include being named one of FAO’s 100 Young Employees in 2019, further solidifying her reputation as a leader in international plant protection.

Since its inception in 2021, Forbes Agro’s list has celebrated women excelling in global markets. This year’s edition, published ahead of World Food Day, emphasizes the strategic roles women play in food production and sustainable agricultural chains. Adriana’s inclusion demonstrates the growing diversity in global decision-making and the IPPC’s significant contribution to international plant protection standards.
