FAO today launched the International Portal for Food Safety, Animal and Plant Health (IPFSAPH) at a Regional Conference on Food Safety for Asia and the Pacific. The IPFSAPH will enable a speedy and authoritative search for current food safety and food quality standards, regulations and other relevant official materials from a single search tool. The actual information is maintained by the competent national institutions, relevant standard setting bodies (the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the International Plant Protection Convention and the Organization for Animal Health - OIE) and international agencies such as FAO, World Health Organization and the World Trade Organization (WTO). The IPPC will continue to collaborate with this important tool which will simplify search for regulations and standards. Both the IPP and IPFSAPH will be closely linked, and any relevant IPPC or countries material entered onto the IPP will also be available for inter-diciplinary searches on IPFSAPH.
