Rome, 14 January 2021. The CPM Bureau held its first virtual meeting of 2021 tackling the preparation for the first ever virtual session of the CPM. CPM-15 will take place on 16, 18 March and 1 April through virtual means as a result of the CPM Bureau decision, endorsed by more than two thirds of IPPC contracting parties, marking an important step towards further innovation.

The CPM Bureau welcomed the explicit support for this decision allowing the IPPC community to align with other international meetings occurring globally. CPM-15 will set a unique precedent for the years to come and may lay the path for a renewed methodology for closer collaboration amongst IPPC contracting parties, governing bodies and stakeholders.

The CPM Bureau revised the Provisional Agenda and assessed potential time allocations, revising possible combinations and ensuring that IPPC contracting parties receive the necessary information to participate to the sessions fully. The IPPC Secretariat reported on the available tools and the procedural steps that are leading towards CPM-15, such as the invitation and registration process, which have been adapted to meet the necessary specifications that a virtual session demands.

Mr Javier TRUJILLO ARRIAGA, CPM Chairperson, and the CPM Bureau members expressed appreciation for the work done so far and encouraged the IPPC Secretariat to continue with the organization of the virtual CPM-15. The report of the CPM Bureau virtual meeting will soon be available at the following link: https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/governance/bureau/
