After the initial detection of Queensland fruit fly Bactrocera tryoni in Devonport, Auckland city in February 2019, additional detections of Queensland fruit fly Bactrocera tryoni were also discovered in Northcote, Auckland city in February 2019. After intensive surveillance and fruit monitoring, the absence of Queensland fruit fly Bactrocera tryoni in Devonport, Auckland City has been confirmed in May 2019 and in Northcote, Auckland City in January 2020. The status of Queensland fruit fly Bactrocera tryoni in New Zealand is now Absent: pest eradicated.
