Launch of the Phytosanitary Border Inspection

Through the European Union funding, under the EU-SADC Trade Related Facility (TRF) Lesotho is implementing a project with sub-component entitled “Upgrading of SPS and TBT Facilities and Enhancing the Competitiveness of SMEs in the Horticulture Sector”. In 2017, through this project Ministry of Agriculture through the designated NPPO, Department of Agricultural Research engaged the first two border inspectors to undertake the inspection services of the consignment of plants, plant materials and plant products for import into or export from the Kingdom of Lesotho. Awareness campaigns were undertaken through the country with the final one held as a launch for the Inspection Services in Lesotho at the NPPO premises in January, 2019 .
