Summary

This pest is a serious quarantine pest which strikes the heart of our banana farmers and can have serious economic consequences for the country. Added to this, the tourism sector can also be affected with most of the landscape comprising of palms. There is also the threat of spreading to the other Islands.

Danger
The entire coconut industry is threatened and the landscape of the hotel belt is also under attack. There is an additional burden on musa spp. which means that the banana industry will find it very difficult to survive.
