For decades the Danish NPPO has carried out official inspections, soil sampling and testing for the presence of potato vyst nematodes in all Danish fields proposed for seed potato production.
Additionally, a range of fields for ware potatoes growing are being offcially surveyed through soil sampling and testing.
Futhermore, outdoor plant nursery production sites are being officially tested for the presence of potato cyst nematodes prior to production commencement.
Since 2012, Globodera pallida has been found in a few fields intended for production of seed potatoes and in some ware potato fields. The fields are subject to an official eradication program restricting the growing conditions. Subsequently, official soil sampling and testing are performed as a basis for reevaluating the growing restrictions. Tubers from infested fields may not be used as seed potatoes, only for processing or consumption under further restrictions.
