For decades the Danish NPPO has carried out official inspections, soil sampling and testing for the presence of potato cyst nematodes in all Danish fields proposed for seed potato production. Additionally, a range of fields for ware potato production are being officially surveyed through soil sampling and testing.
Furthermore, ourdoor plant nursery production sites are being officially tested for the presence of potato cyst nematodess prior to production commencement.
Whereever Globodera rostochiensis is found, the field is being declared a quarantine area.
In the 1980s a single field with a pathotype different from Ro1 was identified. That infestation was eradicated and since then no other pathotype than Ro1 have been identified.
