Short Description

The central competent authorities responsible for plant health are the Directorate of Agricultural Land, Plant production and Market (DALPPM) within the Ministry of Agriculture (MA).
Thef Phytosanitary Policy Sector which is the one of the units of Directorate. PPS has two services, Service for plant health and agricultural reproductive material and Service for plant protection products . Within Service for plant health and agricultural reproductive material are Department of Plant Health and Department of Agricultural Reproduction Material The PS is responsible for planning and coordination of plant health policy, drafting of legislation in relation to harmful organisms (HO). It staff prepares and co-ordinates the annual programmes of surveys of certain harmful organisms, prepares measures to prevent the entry and spread of plant pests, maintains the Phytosanitary Register, issues plant passports authorizations, exchanges information relating to plant health, co-ordinates the development of the Phytosanitary Information System. The PS is also responsible for communication and exchanges of information relating to EU and other international obligations in plant-health.
