The Biosecurity Service (formerly Quarantine Service) came into being as of 1 January 2009, as a result of the Biosecurity Act passed by Parliament in September 2008. Over the years the Biosecurity Service has been developing its systems and processes, and training its staff in the requirements of the legislation.
