Summary

Xylella fastidosa (Xylella) has not been recorded in Australia. Australia adopts a risk-based approach to surveillance. Both Xylella and its exotic vectors are specifically targeted by national and border surveillance programs. These programs undertake visual surveillance, trapping and molecular testing across identified high-risk areas and facilities growing host plants. There have been no detections of Xylella in Australia through any of these surveillance programs, or other biosecurity programs to date.
