Summary

Confirmation that sugarcane smut is present in North Queensland has changed the response to the outbreak of sugarcane in Queensland. Sugarcane smut was previously identified in the Bundaberg-Isis area of south Queensland in June 2006. It is now considered widespread and established in Queensland and is no longer being addressed as a biosecurity eradication and containment program that resulted from the Bundaberg-Isis outbreak
