The USDA-APHIS takes regulatory action to prevent the spread of Globodera rostochiensis (golden nematode), which causes a dangerous disease of potatoes and certain other plants. In the United States, golden nematode currently infests certain countries or areas within counties in the State of New York only, and is neither widely prevalent nor distributed throughout the United States. The Golden nematode Program Manual will help prepare you for the following tasks:
- Performing detection and delimiting surveys for golden nematode in areas where the golden nematode is known or not known to occur
- Conducting treatments and certifying regulated articles for movement from regulated areas
- Determining the movement entry status of regulated and non-regulated articles
- Taking regulatory action when golden nematode is detected
