CAB International (CABI – www.cabi.org) is a global, not-for-profit organisation, owned and run by its 49-member countries. CABI has a Headquarters Agreement with the Government of the United Kingdom and operates through a network of centres located around the world.

By providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment, CABI’s work contributes to the objectives of the IPPC, particularly in the areas of phytosanitary capacity building, value chains and trade, invasive species management, knowledge management, communication and extension. Since its founding in 1910, CABI has served as a centre for biological control research and it is a leader in comprehensive monitoring of plant pests. CABI’s work on plant health issues complements the IPPC’s mission to reduce the spread of plant pests, and it supports implementation of the Convention through training activities on Pest Risk Analysis, inspection, pest diagnosis, etc. CABI has also collaborated with the IPPC on topics such as Fall Armyworm and participated in a technical capacity in IPPC-led groups such as the Pest Outbreak Alert and Response Systems Steering Group and various expert working groups.
