Résumé

There are no pest records for Ophiognomonia leptostyla from Queensland, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Tasmania. Ophiognomonia leptostyla is recorded in Australia from South Australia (Cook and Dubé, 1989) and Victoria (APPD, 2015).

The South Australian reference in Cook and Dubé (1989) cites the presence of Marssonina juglandis (synonym) on Jugulans regia (walnut) with no specimen record, no location or date of collection. There are no other records of Ophiognomonia leptostyla in South Australia. For this reason, this record is considered unreliable.

Victoria has a single specimen record for Ophiognomonia leptostyla collected in 1914 from Bacchus Marsh, Victoria (APPD, 2015). Plant pathologists from the Department of Primary Industries, Victoria have examined the specimen in 2000 and again in 2016, and determined that the morphology of the specimen did not match the taxonomic description of Ophignomonia leptostyla (as per Walker et al., 2012) and is suspected to be Diaporthe eres. There are no other records of Ophiognomonia leptostyla in Victoria. For this reason, the record was determined to be a misidentification and therefore invalid.
