Previous records that reported the presence of Ditylenchus destructor in Australia (New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia) are erroneous or resulted from taxonomic confusion with other Ditylenchus species. Recent surveys and surveillance programs that have been carried out have failed to detect this nematode.
