The Pest Outbreak Alert and Response Systems (POARS) strengthen global phytosanitary capacity by improving early detection, enabling faster and coordinated responses, and fostering international collaboration to reduce the impact of emerging pests on agriculture, trade, and ecosystems.
In 2025, POARS enters a pilot phase to test the alert system, the emerging pest identification framework, and targeted prevention, preparedness, and response activities.
Profiles are currently under development and will progressively include information supporting prevention, preparedness, and response.
Note: More emerging pest profiles will be added as they are finalized.
These initiatives helped the community test and refine elements of POARS, developing capacity for prevention, preparedness, and response.
