Are you ready to contribute to the global agenda for plant protection? The IPPC Secretariat invites expressions of interest from contracting parties (CPs) to attend the 2026 meeting of the Strategic Planning Group (SPG) as funded participants, and in accordance with the IPPC criteria for funding.
The SPG meeting is tentatively scheduled for 27 from 30 October 2026 in Brazil.
The SPG is an open working group to IPPC CPs and Regional Plant Protection Organizations (RPPOs) that provides strategic perspectives and advice to the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) on matters related to the implementation of the IPPC, including strategic planning, governance, resource mobilization, and other issues referred to the SPG by the CPM.
Purpose of the call
This call aims to encourage broad and balanced regional participation in the SPG, particularly from CPs with expertise and interest in contributing to the strategic direction of the IPPC.
The CPM Bureau invites contributions that will support informed and forward-looking discussions. Submissions are expected to include feedback and comments on how to ensure the effective implementation and achievement of the current IPPC Strategic Framework, as well as ideas and proposals to inform the development of the next IPPC Strategic Framework beyond 2030.
Participation and funding
Participation in the SPG meeting is open to all interested CPs and Regional Plant Protection Organizations (RPPOs) however, funding is limited to two eligible NPPOs per region (one per country), based on existing IPPC criteria for financial assistance.

The benefits of attending the SPG meeting for the applicant, their NPPO, and their region; and
All expressions of interest will be reviewed in accordance with the agreed IPPC procedures, and submissions seeking financial support will be assessed by the CPM Bureau.
Deadline and next steps
The deadline for submission of expressions of interest is 17 July 2026. Successful applicants will be informed of the outcome by early September, following consideration by the CPM Bureau
