In March 2006, black willow canker was detected on willow trees in the ACT and NSW. It has been decided that willow black canker is not likely to be a disease of significant economic impact. Relevant industries raised no concern about the decision to take no further action on this disease.
- Peligro
- The fungus willow black canker, an exotic disease to Australia, was detected on willow trees in NSW and the ACT. It is not likely to be a disease of significant economic impact. The black willow fungus is not aggressive on willow and is conisdered to be a minor fruit rot disease. It is likely to be controlled by fungicide spray regimes already in use. An eradication program is not feasible or required.
