The CPM Financial Committee Meeting Held at FAO-HQs in Rome Italy

The CPM Financial Committee (FC) meeting was held on 11 April 2018 at FAO-HQ, Rome, Italy, just before the 13th Session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM-13) to be taken place from 16-20 April. The meeting was chaired by Marie-Claude FOREST (Canada), FC Chair, opened by Jingyuan XIA, IPPC Secretary, and attended by Lois RANSOM (Australia - CPM Chair), Kyu-Ock YIM (Republic of Korea - FC member), Mr Lucien KOUAME KONAN (Côte d Ivoire - FC member), Craig FEDCHOCK (IPPC Adviser) and Marko BENOVIC (Budget and Planning Officer of the IPPC Secretariat) .

The main objectives and activities of this FC meeting were to a) review and update action points since last meeting; b) review IPPC Secretariat Financial report for 2017, IPPC Secretariat Work plan and Budget for 2018, and IPPC Secretariat Work plan and Budget for 2019; and c) discuss progress on Sustainable funding mechanism for the IPPC Work Programme, updated FC ToRs, and FC Work Programme for 2018.

The major results of the meeting included: a) FC highly appreciated transparent and accurate Financial report for 2017, as well as the resource mobilization achievements made by IPPC Secretariat in 2017; b) FC supported the IPPC Secretariat Work plan and Budget for both 2018 and 2019; and c) FC agreed to further pursue sustainable funding mechanism for the IPPC Work Programme, and to have strategic discussion on longer term funding of IPPC Secretariat activities in its June meeting.
