2017 IPPC Regional Workshops to kick off August 7th 2017 for South-West Pacific Region in Nadi Fiji

The IPPC Secretariat, together with Regional Plant Protection Organizations (RPPOs) and FAO Regional/Subregional offices is pleased to announce the dates, and locations for this year s tranche of IPPC Regional Workshops.

The overall objective of the workshops is to continue to engage Contracting Parties (CP) in the activities of the IPPC, to exchange national experiences at the regional level, to better equip CPs in analyzing and formulating productive comments towards draft ISPMs, and to build strong CP phytosanitary capacity. Topics for this year s regional workshops include the draft ISPM on the international movement of cut flowers, the Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluation (PCE) tool, emerging issues in plant health and an update on the international year of plant health, among others.

Organizers of the IPPC Regional Workshops have considered CP suggestions from the 2016 Workshops to improve upon the content and organization of regional Workshops. As requested, this year will bring more time spent on discussions and exercises, working groups, and additional time scheduled for discussions of standards.
