Side meeting on 2024 IPPC Regional Workshops

Date: Thursday 18 April 2024 | 13:00 - 14:15 (CET)
Venue: Red Room (A121), FAO Headquarters

In brief: This meeting aims to provide information to members of regional organizing committees of the IPPC Regional Workshops (RWs), to facilitate the process of planning this year’s RWs. The IPPC RWs are held annually to facilitate discussion on international and regional phytosanitary matters. The RWs are held in seven regions globally- Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America, Near East and North Africa, and the Pacific. They provide contracting parties with the opportunity to comment on draft International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs), recommendations by the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM), ISPM specifications, and implementation and capacity development in the IPPC community. This meeting will therefore raise awareness about the importance of RWs, provide an update on progress in planning the 2024 RWs and introduce the revised guidelines for IPPC RWs.
