List of topics (LOT) = IPPC standard setting work programme

The IPPC Secretariat makes a call for topics every two years. Contracting parties (CPs) and Regional Plant Protection Organizations (RPPOs) submit detailed proposals for new topics or the revision of existing ISPMs to the Secretariat.

The Standards Committee (SC), taking into account the IPPC Strategic Framework and the Criteria for justification and prioritization of proposed topics (posted below), reviews the submissions. The SC reviews the List of topics for IPPC standards (including subjects), adding topics and giving each topic a recommended priority. In exceptional circumstances, the SC can recommend an addition to the LOT to respond to a specific need. This list is recommended to the CPM.

The CPM reviews, changes and adopts the List of topics for IPPC standards, including assigning a priority for each topic. The List of topics database for IPPC standards is updated, and the link to the database is available on this IPP page. The LOT database is available in all languages.

Annually the SC reviews the List of topics for IPPC standards and recommends changes (including deletions or changes in priority) to the CPM. In exceptional circumstances, in response to a specific need, the SC may recommend an addition to the List of topics for IPPC standards. When a situation arises in which an ISPM (or a revision of a current ISPM) is urgently required, the CPM may insert such a topic (or revision) into the List of topics for IPPC standards.

A prioritized list of topics submitted to the IPPC Secretariat is available below. Adoption dates, priorities, and statuses are subject to change based on several factors, including Secretariat resources.

The LOT database is a living document available on the IPP in languages at the link provided below.

It indicates:

• Topic number (tracking number)

• Current title of the topic

• Priority

• Relevant strategic objective

• Drafting body

• Steward(s) and assistant(s)

• Technical Panels leads (when applicable)

• Status

NOTE: The LOT database has been updated with the decisions from the Standards Committee in all languages.
