The IPPC Secretariat is proud to announce that on July 15th the Generic National System component of the IPPC ePhyto Solution will go live! This means that countries without their own national electronic certification system who wish to join the IPPC ePhyto Solution can begin their registration process and once fully prepared, can join the IPPC ePhyto Solution through the use of the GeNS. The GeNS is a centralized web- based system that any country without their own electronic certification system can use to connect to the ePhyto Hub in order to produce, send and receive ePhytos. The IPPC Secretariat will release an official announcement on July 15 providing all relevant links and instructions.
For many years, the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat has been working hard to make the ePhyto Solution Project a reality. On June 15, 2018, the IPPC Secretariat announced that the ePhyto Hub, a key component of the IPPC ePhyto Solution which facilitates the harmonized exchange of electronic phytosanitary certificates (ePhytos) between NPPOs, was open for business. This meant that countries that had their own national systems could now connect and exchange ePhytos through the Hub. Since then thirty-four countries have registered to use the Hub, five of them are already exchanging in production and the rest are in the process of on-boarding or finalizing their access to the system.
