The CPM Bureau meeting was held on 11th-13th April before CPM-13 and on 20 April 2018 after CPM-13 with participation of seven Bureau members as well as the representatives from the IPPC Secretariat and FAO Legal Office. The meeting was chaired by the CPM Chairperson, Ms Lois Ransom (Australia), and opened by Mr Jingyuan Xia, the IPPC Secretary.
The meeting started with the discussion of the action points of the October and December 2017 and March 2018 Bureau meetings followed by preparations for CPM-13: arrangements and key issues for consideration. Bureau also addressed: Progress Report of the IPPC Secretariat for 2017, IPPC Strategic Framework for 2020-2030, Commodity standards and IYPH contribution and support.
The Bureau members discussed outcomes of the Financial Committee Meeting in April 2018 and Sustainable funding mechanism for the IPPC work programme.
The post CPM-13 meeting was dedicated to the introduction of new Bureau Members and appreciation for the outgoing members, discussion on issues arising from CPM-13 for Bureau actions, arrangements for Bureau activities in 2018 and planning for Bureau meeting in June 2018.
The Bureau discussed the mechanism of the establishment of Commodity and Pathway Standards Focus Group and its Terms of Reference (ToRs), in addition to initial discussion on the programme and side sessions of the CPM-14. The Bureau members agreed also on their new representatives in the Standards Committee (SC), Implementation and Capacity Development Committee (IC) and Technical Consultation among Regional Plant Protection Organizations (TC-RPPOs).
