2023-08- Re-Opened Call for Experts – Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols - Botanist

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is soliciting nominations for appropriately qualified experts to take part in:

  • The Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols (TPDP): expert in BOTANY
  • Experts who submitted their nomination in the previous call for
    Botanist (17 May to 07 July 2023) do not have to submit again

Nominations are due 26 September 2023 and should be sent to [email protected]

Experts will be appointed for five-year terms beginning in 2023 and should be available to attend all annual face-to-face meetings as well as any virtual meeting of the TPDP throughout the year (see requirement details below).

All meeting dates will be published on the IPPC Calendar (2023). The next face to face meeting is tentatively scheduled for 30 October – 03 December 2023, Paris (France) at EPPO HQ.

The TPDP operates in English language (without interpretation), so experts should have a strong working knowledge of English.

Specific expertise required

The Standards Committee (SC) will select the experts based on how closely an expert’s skills and experience match the specific expertise required.

  • Expertise required for the Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols - Botany

In response to the potential inclusion of new topics for DPs in the List of Topics of IPPC Standards, experts for the field of Botany are sought to complement already existing expertise within the TPDP.

Candidates should have diagnostic expertise in their relevant field, I.e. in Botany. Moreover, practical and research expertise in the use of morphological, molecular and biochemical diagnostic techniques, in quality assurance and in phytosanitary procedures. Experience in developing diagnostic protocols is highly desired.

Willingness and availability to participate continuously in the work of the TPDP throughout the year, including face-to-face meetings, virtual meetings, and intersession work is essential. The membership is for a five-year term beginning in 2023 and the selected experts should be available to attend all meetings of the TPDP throughout the year.
