The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat invites the IPPC Community to submit national and regional case studies that demonstrate the vital role of plant health within the One Health framework.

Why submit?

One Health is a holistic approach that recognizes the interdependence of plant, animal, human, and environmental health.

The Eighteenth Session of the of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) in 2024 established a CPM Focus Group on Plant Health in the Context of One Health, with a terms of reference. One of the tasks included in the terms of reference is the conduct preliminary study to understand how plant health could contribute to the One Health approach by determining the interrelations and interdependencies between plant health and the other pillars of this approach, as well as case studies from national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) and regional plant protection organizations (RPPOs) relating to One Health.

Additionally, as part of its ongoing advocacy and awareness raising efforts, the IPPC Secretariat is organizing a Science Session at CPM-19 titled "The Importance of Plant Health Within One Health". The session will explore the vital interconnections between plant health and the broader One Health framework by showcasing real-world examples of plant health within One Health, strengthening partnerships with key organizations and stakeholders.

Selected case studies will be featured in the CPM-19 Science Session if time allows and will be considered for an IPPC knowledge product on Plant Health and One Health.
