The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat is soliciting case studies for inclusion in the IPPC e-Commerce Guide for plants, plant products and other regulated articles in international trade (2017-039).
Purpose
This call is intended to solicit case studies that may be used to enhance content of the IPPC e-Commerce Guide for plants, plant products and other regulated articles in international trade (2017-039), which is currently under development.
We are looking for detailed examples or stories that describe an issue related to e-Commerce and the activities that were undertaken by the NPPO to address the challenge, including: outcomes, impacts, lessons learned and plans to enhance future e-Commerce activities.
Scope of the e-Commerce Guide
The IPPC e-Commerce Guide will provide practical solutions to assist national plant protection organizations (NPPOs) in managing the pest risk associated with international e-Commerce trade. It will focus on electronic transactions that lead to the international movement of plants, plant products and other regulated articles, particularly those that follow non-traditional distribution patterns (i.e. business-to-consumer and consumer-to-consumer transactions). It will also offer guidance to assist NPPOs to strengthen cooperation and communication with other relevant border agencies and to improve collaboration at a national level in order to facilitate low risk trade while ensuring phytosanitary requirements are met.
