The IPPC Secretariat is soliciting nominations for experts for:

• Technical Panel for the Glossary (TPG)

as experts for the:

• English language; and
• Arabic language.

1. Scope, purpose and tasks of the Technical Panel for the Glossary (TPG)

For details regarding the scope and responsibilities of the TPG, please refer to:

2. Required specific expertise

Nominees should possess:

• a broad understanding of plant protection systems;
• experience in several aspects such as legislation, regulations, surveillance, diagnostics, pest risk analysis, phytosanitary certification and compliance, eradication, pest free areas, etc.; and
• an understanding of the use of phytosanitary terminology within those systems.

In addition, experience in developing or implementing International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) is highly desired.

The expert should be available to participate continuously in the work of the TPG throughout the year and attend all its annual face-to-face meetings and virtual meetings. All meeting dates will be published on the IPPC Calendar.

The TPG operates in the English language without interpretation.

The experts will be appointed for a five-year term from beginning in 2025.

Expert for the English language

The expert should have an excellent working knowledge of the English language (mother tongue level) to serve as the third expert for the English language.

Nominations are due by 15 July 2025.

Expert for the Arabic language

The expert should have an excellent working knowledge of the Arabic language (mother tongue level) to serve as the expert for the Arabic language.

Nominations are due by 15 July 2025.

3. Instructions for making nominations

Nominations can be submitted both by e-mail and via the online form no later than 15 July 2025.

3.1 Nominations by e-mail

Submissions should be sent to the IPPC Secretariat by e-mail ([email protected], put in copy [email protected] and [email protected]) no later than 15 July 2025. The name of the nominating country or RPPO and the words "Call for Experts for Technical Panel for the Glossary (TPG)” should be placed in the subject line of the email message.

3.2. Online Submission form

The online submission form should be completed no later than 15 July 2025. It allows you to work offline as well. After completing the form, a confirmation email will be sent to the specified email address with the completed form attached.
