Guidelines for the prevention, eradication and containment of Xylella fastidiosa in olive-growing areas is a new IPPC-FAO publication on Xylella fastidiosa. Now available online, the publication explains what Xylella fastidiosa is, how it can be detected and how it affects olive-growing areas. It provides strategies for implementing a contingency programme - particularly in the Mediterranean area where Xylella fastidiosa has caused great damage. Contingency measures include biological and chemical control, nutrition management and cultural best practices. Finally, the guidelines provide olive-tree farmers and field advisors with technical information to help them prevent the introduction and the spread of Xylella fastidiosa in their growing areas.
