The IPPC Secretariat informs the plant health community that the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) Focus Group on Sea Containers will present its action plan 2024-2027 to the CPM Bureau at the CPM Bureau meeting in October. The action plan follows CPM's extension of the Focus Group's mandate to the CPM-21 meeting in 2027.
The action plan addresses various issues related to guiding the IPPC community on managing the pest risk associated with sea containers, including awareness raising and strengthening stakeholder collaboration. Among other activities, the CPM Focus Group and the IPPC Secretariat are supporting the organization of the international symposium on optimizing container design to mitigate risks of pest contamination in the international containerized supply chain, which will take place on 11 November 2024 in Rotterdam, Kingdom of the Netherlands.
